Alle Welt verfolgt mit ungläubiger Spannung die Story um das spurlose Verschwinden eine Boeing 777 in Malaysia. Die ARRL berichtet nun, dass auch Funkamateure ihren Beitrag zur Bewältigung der Situation leisten. Nein, nicht durch Suche nach Funksignalen im Äther oder durch Peilen (obwohl das vielleicht auch ein Gedanke wäre, wenn man nur wüsste, was man peilen sollte …).
Wie die ARRL heute berichtet, hatten unmittelbar nach dem Verschwinden der Maschine Funkamateure den Auftrag erhalten, Funkverbindungen aufzubauen zwischen dem Flughafen in Kuala Lumpur und einem Hotel, in dem die Angehörigen der Passagiere untergebracht wurden. Insgesamt 34 malaysische Funkamateure waren beteiligt. Die erste Verbindung wurde per VHF/UHF Crossband-Repeater hergestellt, eine Kurzwellenverbindung folgte.
Die Amateurfunkverbindung sollte die Funkverbindungen der Sicherheitsbehörden entlasten. Warum für diese Punkt-zu-Punkt-Verbindung nicht auf die öffentliche Telefon-Infrastruktur zurück gegriffen werden konnte, sagt der Bericht leider nicht.

Verfasst von Hanumanta Sulikeri | 2014-03-12, 23:30Hanumanta, I heard that rumor about „cell phones still ringing“ (probably meaning there was/is still a ring tone when calling) as well, but I am not at all convinced it can be trusted. One explanation I heard was even if it were to be true, some carriers may always give you a ring tone before switching to voice mail, even if the phone itself is dead.

I think there should be some protocol or standard which all operator should follow, so that they can avoid this situation. In any case victim’s family member try their best to reach thier loved ones, the only thing in their hand is to call the numbe, as rest like search operations not in their hand.
